Frankly, the original mirrors on the Patrol are awful. These ones don't improve the look but the functionality is much improved!

Australia can still into the Patrol? Common here in the 80s then faded out.

They remained popular due to fact they were typically cheaper than the Land Cruiser whilst being just as capable. Unfortunately, that all ended with the demise of the Y61 (which is what our farm ute is).
The commercial versions of the Y61 really only sold in Oz and southern Africa while the pro fi table bling versions were quite popular in the Gulf States. So those markets, along with prospects of American glory, drove the development of the Y62 Patrol - also known as the Nissan Armada and the Infiniti Whateveritis . Which is a shadow of what it was based on...
